Movie Review:Syriana

Great movie, great performance by George Clooney, but don't go see it when you are in the mood for something uplifting. There is a lot in this movie that is disturbing, there is a torture scene that was very difficult to watch. (One person in the theater walked out during this scene.)

The guy who played Prince Nasir (not sure what his name is--the guy who played Dr Bashir in one of the Star Trek shows--look it up on www.imdb.com if you need to know) also put in an exceptional performance.

This movie made me glad that I was taking the bus home and that I elected to stop driving several months ago. I had been toying with the idea of occasionally driving to work after the beginning of the year because the increases in bus fees will make it cheaper to buy gas, but seeing Syriana made me go from unlikely to it's-not-going-to-happen. It isn't just the price of gas, it makes you think even more about what oil really costs--even without going into environmental consequences.
