Book Review: The Third Secret by Steve Berry

This book took a long time to read. But in this case, that was a good thing. It was because I wanted to savor it, to pay close attention to every word. Often when I read, I hit parts where I start to get bored and I skim through until it starts to pick up again. In this book, however, there wasn't a single sentence that didn't seem crucial.

Most of it takes place in the Vatican, and is centered around the topic of Marian Apparitions. The premise is that there was more to the third secret of Fatima than that released by the Vatican in 2000. There was also some relationshipy stuff, and if you've read many of my posts you know that I usually don't like that sort of thing. But in this story it fit perfectly.

This book will probably be most appreciated by those who were raised Catholic and are currently either agnostic or disillusioned with the church. I can't tell you what a never-been-Catholic person would think, although I don't think it would be confusing.

Some books, more than others, make the reader feel enveloped in the story. This was one such book. I was sad when I finished it, because although much of it is similar to the real world, it was different enough to make me want to live in the world presented by the author.

I'm definitely going to try another one of Steve Berry's books, but I haven't decided which one yet.
