Seating Assignments In The Last Circle Of Hell

Until recently, I thought the hottest place in the last circle of Hell was reserved for the person who did push-polling against McCain in 2000. For those not familiar with push-polling, they made calls to people in the south asking, "Would it change your opinion of John McCain if you knew he had an illegitimate black daughter?" Note they didn't say that he does, but the question is phrased to make people believe that is the case. And of course, he didn't. The daughter in question was adopted from an orphanage in Bangladesh.

But it turns out you can be an even bigger scumbag than the person responsible for such loathsome behavior. McCain has hired the same guy to do the same thing against Obama. People are getting calls saying, "Would it change your opinion of Barack Obama if you knew he is a Muslim?" Jews in Florida are getting calls saying, "Would it change your opinion of Barack Obama if you knew Obama has had a decade long relationship with pro-Palestinian leaders in Chicago?" "Would it change your opinion of Barack Obama if you knew the leader of Hamas, Ahmed Yousef, expressed support for Obama and his hope for Obama's victory?" Again, none of it is true, and they don't say it is. They just lead people to believe it is true.

How morally bankrupt do you have to be to hire the same guy who did this to you, so that you can use the same reprehensible tactic against someone else? Probably about as morally bankrupt as you have to be to have experienced torture that made you agree to do anti-American propaganda films, and then vote to allow your country to torture. If McCain is that certain that torture elicits truth, how are we supposed to believe that the things he said under torture were false?

The instant McCain made the decision to use push polling against Obama a chair with his name on it materialized in the last circle of Hell. He was hanging on by a thread when he voted against banning the use of waterboarding, and now his place is firmly fixed.
